1) Agreement
By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2) Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction) to use the Service. We primarily expect users to be college students and older.
3) Accounts
- You are responsible for your account and maintaining the confidentiality of login credentials.
- You agree to provide accurate information and keep it updated.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts as described below.
4) Your content
4.1 Ownership
You retain ownership of content you submit (URLs, pasted text, uploaded files) and the organization you create (collections, tags).
4.2 License to operate the Service
You grant us a limited license to host, store, process, and transmit your content as necessary to provide the Service, including running extraction and enrichment.
4.3 Responsibility
You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights to upload, store, and process content (including PDFs and other copyrighted materials).
5) Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for unlawful activity.
- Attempt to access another user’s data or bypass security/RLS.
- Upload malware or harmful code.
- Abuse automated endpoints in a way that disrupts the Service.

6) AI outputs and citations (important)
- AI-generated summaries, quotes, tags, and comparisons may be inaccurate.
- You are responsible for verifying quotes and citations against the original source.
- The Service is provided as a research aid and does not guarantee correctness or completeness.
7) Third-party services
The Service may integrate or depend on third-party services (e.g., Supabase, AI providers). Your use may be subject to their terms.
8) Paid plans (placeholder)
If we offer paid plans:
- Fees, billing cadence, included usage/credits, and overages will be described at purchase.
- Taxes may apply.
- We may change pricing with notice.
TODO: Add refund policy, trial terms, and credit expiration/reset rules when billing is implemented.
9) Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time.
We may suspend or terminate your access if:
- You violate these Terms.
- Your use creates risk or legal exposure.
- Required by law.
On termination, you may lose access to your content unless otherwise required by law. Backups may persist for a limited time.
10) Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
11) Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US (IF ANY) FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM.
12) Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims arising out of your use of the Service or your content, including claims that you lack rights to submitted content.
13) Governing law; venue (placeholder)
These Terms are governed by the laws of TODO: state/country. Venue for disputes will be TODO: county/state.
14) Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date and may provide additional notice for material changes.
